The Wassa Fiase Traditional Council has appealed to the government to quickly release the mineral royalties to help in its functioning.
The unpaid mineral royalties, the council says is hampering the smooth running of the council.
This appeal was made by the Wassa Fiase Paramount Chief Osagyefo Dr. Kwamena Ennimil VI in his welcome address during the council's first general meeting this year held at the Wassa Fiase Traditional Council in Tarkwa on Tuesday March 25.
The mineral royalties, which the chiefs get their share from the nine percent received from central government by district asssemblies, Osagyefo says has not been received.
Osagyefo made it clear the situation is hampering the progress of the traditional council since that is the only major source of revenue for the running of the council.
"Another concern is the delay in the release of our mineral royalties. The issue is worrying and as our major source of revenue in running the council, if care is not taken, the Traditional Council's activities will come to a halt" he said.
Osagyefo Kwamina Ennimil believes the prompt release of the mineral royalties which have been in arrears since 2012 will help the chiefs and the Traditional Council function smoothly.
According to him all scholarships for students from Wassa Fiase Traditional Council has to be on hold for some time till the royalties are paid to them, describing the situation as worrying.
He has therefore appealed to Government of Ghana to release the royalties for the good of
Wassa Fiase Traditional Council
